I have listed below some questions I think you might have about your journey into therapy/counselling. I hope these will give you a picture of what to expect.
Reflections NI is a psychotherapy practice that provides integrative therapy services to adults and young people across Derry/Londonderry, the Northwest and across Northern Ireland.
Integrative counselling draws on techniques from different types of therapy to tailor an approach specifically for you.
As an integrative counsellor I believe there isn’t just one therapeutic approach that can help my clients in all situations. Instead, I take into account you as an individual and your circumstances, and use elements of different approaches to help you explore and cope with your worries.
Starting counselling can feel daunting, particularly if you've never experienced it before.
You may be wondering what you'll talk about, whether your problems are “big enough” for counselling, or whether you'll feel comfortable opening up to someone you don't yet know.
Those feelings are completely understandable.
Your first contact with Reflections NI doesn't commit you to anything. It's an opportunity to ask questions, talk about what you're looking for and decide whether counselling here feels right for you.
There is no pressure to have everything worked out before you reach out.
I am a qualified counsellor and registered member of both the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).
